Blurred vision post-op

2 days post-op and my vision is bad. I can hardly see when using my cell phone to text or read. I have to hold it at arms length to see it. I usually have good vision. Has anyone else experienced blurred vision?

Re: Blurred vision post-op

It took me a couple of days to get my already bad vision back to normal. I figured it was the effects of the anesthesia and pain meds.

Re: Blurred vision post-op

Ok thanks, i was getting worried but my vision is getting better. My Dr. Says it cld be frm the nausea patch that was placed behind my ear. Im hoping by tmrw it will be back to normal.

Re: Blurred vision post-op

Yes that is one of the possible side effects often temporary I believe. I too was surprised the second night when looking at the cell phone and saw everything in doubled. I took that as my signal that I did not need to be reading the cell phone messages at that time & went back to sleep

Also something I forgot but found helpful last night is the Articles listed under the Post-Op button above in the blue bar. Blurry vision is an example of something that is explained in detail in one of the articles.

Happy Recovery!

Re: Blurred vision post-op

Anesthesia causes changes in blood sugar that can last a few days - makes it go up - and higher blood sugar will cause blurred vision, even in people who are not diabetic.

Re: Blurred vision post-op

I was freaking out about my vision for the first week post-op. It's A LOT better now, but not like it should be.
I have terrible vision anyway.

Re: Blurred vision post-op

I had blurry vision for an entire week-it was crazy!

I had the patch behind ear and yes, from past cruises I took, it causes such blurred vision that by day 4 we cannot read menus in the dining room at all.

It will get better.

My bladder spasm medication listed blurred vision as a side effect. They may have given that to you in the hospital.
