They forgot me

I had a biopsy on the 16th January. It was done under GA as the surgeon had tried to do it the previous week as an outpatient but it was not sucessful. A transvaginal ultrasound had shown a large mass. My Consultant had thought that it was a polyp, so wanted to do a hysteroscopy. Under GA he tried to do it but couldn't because this 'thing' was too big and was in the way. When I came round from the GA he said he had taken a biopsy of the 'thing', but it was not a polyp as it was solid, but it may be a fibroid. He said the hospital would send me an appointment for 2 weeks and he could then give me the results of the biopsy abd book my Hysterectomy. Well, it is 2 weeks on Monday and I have heard nothing. So I rand the hospital, to be told I had 'slipped through the net'! No one had sent me an appointment as my file had just been left where it was. Then, I was told "Thank you for calling us, otherwise we would have never followed you up". I am really, really anxious about these results and am so cross that I had 'slipped though the net'. Thank god I rang......

Re: Thay forgot me

Dear April 1965, yes it is a good thing you took the initiative and rang the hospital. These things happen more than we could imagine. WE need to take control of our lives and health and be alert immediately when something that was promised to us does not go thru. Keep that in mind for your next steps in this issue you're going thru, and good luck! Hopefully it is just a benign fibroid which is pretty common in women.

Re: Thay forgot me

It's hard enough to deal with the anxiety about the biopsy results, but now you have the added anxiety that the hospital isn't competent. I hope that your results are good, and because that mistake is on their radar, the rest of your care with be exemplary!

Sorry you are dealing with this, sweetie. It is frustrating when you get lost in the shuffle. Hopefully all is well.
