Boredom busters for when you are at home. I am struggling to keep myself sitting still. Also a grabber has been handy for things I drop. I got mine at Harbor Freight for $4.

In the hospital..your own slippers I wore socks & my slippers (they looked like shoes) so I didn't have to bend over to put shoes on when it was time to leave. Also lotion is a big one for me. My hospital gave me gasx & pads while I was in there.

Re: hospital must haves

Here's what I've got packed in my bag:
Underwear...which I may not end up putting on
Pads...A friend of mine said she bleed, but not a whole lot.
Toothbrush/paste.
Brush.
Notepad/pen.
Laptop.
Pj bottoms.
Facewash pads.
Hand lotion.
Hand cleaner.
Cell phone/charger.
Body spray.
Chapstick.
My favorite blanket that I sleep with every night

Re: hospital must haves

Katie for home I'd also suggest some slimfast or ensure and some broths and stuff.

For the first couple of days I had either no appetite or low appetite, so these will at least get something into your system. I just ate 3/4 of a chicken sandwich from chic-fila the most I have eaten in 10 days/

Re: hospital must haves

That's a good idea, too. There were some days I got to feeling really bad and shaky and realized I had not eaten, either.

Re: hospital must haves

A belly bag is nice to clip to the hospital bed. You can keep your Chapstick and wipes and stuff in it.

Re: hospital must haves

Lip balm....my lips were sooo dry after surgery. Toothbrush/paste was nice to have the next afternoon (I had a late afternoon surgery) when I was getting around more. Once they take out your IV, your own jammies or gown (loose of course). My hospital put a belly band on me post op thankfully. And if for *some* reason you don't have your bag with you, ask your nurse if you need something, they might surprise you (mine had a kit with shampoo, etc and the blessed lip balm!).
