That is great to hear!! I think it is so important for us to create what we need, especially when it's something this big...on the intial email I sent to my friends, I called it "The Great Uterus Blow Out"
Have fun and let me know how it goes!

Re: Vaginal hysterectomy...Feels like what after surgery?

Hey ladies It's blubberpenguin minus a uterus... Surgery started on time @ 7:30 am on Thursday I was home @ 5:30 Friday evening. I have to say I am not a baby with pain, It did hurt me more than I would have liked it too. Meds didn't seem to help it...BUT I up this morning. Got my cup of coffee & sitting at the computer. Pain has been less. Walking carefully & feeling soooo much better. My first night at home sleeping was ok. Thanks to some of you I too made friends with my heating pad & a pillow on my belly all night long. I recommend that highly!!!! If I didn't find this site I think I would have been more confused etc but hearing from all that had it done & hearing from those that didn't & were nervous like me made me at ease. Thanks again to all for the words of wisdom. & to those who are about to have it, be a little nervous, it's good but you will be find. My doc asked me how I was feeling as I was put on the operating table. Told her nervous etc. I asked her how she was feeling, was she nervous, she said no. So I told her then I'm not nervous either. I will keep in touch but for some reason the coffee isn't as appealing as I would like it to be, so I'm heading back to bed! Talk to you all later. HUGS to all!

Hiya - Pleased it went well for you, now just rest and do things in your own time. Your recovery may be a walk in the park, you may have bad days and you'll certainly have good days but just go with the flow and ask questions if you are concerned. We've all had different types of hysterectomies but, at the end of the day, we've all had the same operation. We are not doctors but can relate to how you feel or just voice our experience.
Take care and hopefully your 2nd cup of coffee will be more enjoyable!

Re: Vaginal hysterectomy...Feels like what after surgery?

Oh Blubberpenguin, I am so happy that you are on this side of your surgery. Make sure you take your meds at the right intervals, that should help alot. I discovered that my coffee didn't taste quite the same for a few days after surgery but thankfully that changed!

Take it slow and easy - keep that pillow and heating pad nearby - such great inventions!

sending prayers and hugs

Re: Vaginal hysterectomy...Feels like what after surgery?

Thats great to hear... I think its such a relief to be actually in the healing space, rather than pre op, projecting, not knowing, and anxious!
I am 9 days post op and still taking it slow, but better each day and just on ibuprofen a few times a day for discomfort manangement...

Re: Vaginal hysterectomy...Feels like what after surgery?

5 days post op, and mostly feeling tender and sore. Had a vaginal, thankfully, and the worries my mind conjured up were far worse than the actual pain. The day after was rough, and the night I came home was a doozie. The walking in the hospital and at home have helped quite a bit. I have several friends who have been through this and given me great advice and support. Absolutely, resting when I need rest, and accepting all the help I can get. My husband is truly giving me the Princess treatment.
