Drainage & red bump on navel incision

I had my hyst 4 1/2 wks ago and about a week ago I started having drainage at the navel incision. It has some clear drainage & then will crust over like its trying to heal. I also have what looks like small red bump that is semi sensiti e to the touch. I called the docs office & the nurse said this is probably normal. Im not running a temp, it doesn't have a foul smell, or have streaky red marks. The nurse said to keep it clean with peroxide & to leave it alone. On occasion when I sit down, the crusted over part will break off & then it starts all over again. Also in the shower it will break off. Has anyone experienced this? Should I be concerned and is this normal?

Re: Drainage & red bump on navel incision

Do not use peroxide!! Peroxide keeps the healing tissue from healing!! You should only use peroxide when a cut first happens. I think you should call the doctor and not speak to the nurse. My doctor told me to wash mine with soap and water only....he said do NOT use peroxide and gave me the reason I just gave you. Please call your doctor and find out what he/she wants you to do.
