Anyone else who has had/will have walking epidural for pain management?

I have had 5 previous open abdominal surgeries and this is the first time I have had the option of a walking epidural. I feel relieved about it. Helps reduce pain with less of the meds that make me feel goofy and can still walk around. Before I would always walk with great pain then try to chase the pain when I got back to bed b/c I was afraid to take the medicine before b/c it made me feel wierd and I was afraid I would fall.

What are you using to control pain or have you discussed this already with your Dr?

Re: Anyone else who has had/will have walking epidural for pain management?

I have a friend that just had a LAVH-BSO in November and she was given a walking epidural. She said it was wonderful and would do it again! She told me this because I go to see my doctor on 2/9 and told me to ask him about this. She said she was really "awake" and not all groggy from the pain meds they give you.

You are welcome! She said she doesn't even know when they really did it but she did have one and was so relieved she did. She was able to walk without any problems. I plan on asking my physician if this is a possibility.
