Staples? What are they like?

Hi there,
Has anyone had staples who's had their hsyterectomy? They sound hard and painful and very unpleasant to have removed. I've just learned I'm going to have them and would love to know what they feel like. (for some reason I thought I'd have only the dissolving kind).

Re: Staples? What are they like?

Well you will not like the sound of them, they are exactly what you think they are metal staples. ever see a staple gun to put staples in material or boards. well they use a staple gun and put in metal staples but they are made of surgical metal and sterile. you do not feel them put them in as you are asleep, when you wake up they feel no different than stitches. I had both stitches and staples. As for removal they hurt no less or more than removing stitches. There is slight discomfort but that is all the most you will feel is a pinch or a sting. Seriously they sound worse then they actually are.

Re: Staples? What are they like?

Staples are nothing to worry about. Totalhysta is right, they really do sound worse than they actually are. They were probably the easiest part of my surgery! They did pull a little when I moved, but I didn't feel a thing when they were removed.

Re: Staples? What are they like?

I just had a hysterectomy with staples and they were no big deal. Don't even worry about them, you will do fine. After one week, a nurse removed all 17 of them in about 5 minutes with no pain--piece of cake

Re: Staples? What are they like?

THEY USED SURGICAL GLUE ON MY TAH.are you sure they're using staples?the glue made me paranoid.i had 2 c-sections and they used staples but really it was relief to have them couldnt move properly,i didnt think.when they take them out,it feels like mini-bee stings but really dont hurt,i didnt think. i did come unglued about the 3rd week,so i had right to be paranoid.i just did tight bandaides and incision did reglue itsself so i was grateful for not using staples but at time i wanted the staples but incision looked alot better w/o any fear of having any kind of scar from staples to heal.
