They changed my date without telling me!

So I called pre-admittance and we start reviewing my medical history. The lady says, "so I see you are scheduled for the 9th" Me, "no, all my paperwork says the 8th". "Hmmm," she says, "We have you down for Thursday the 9th, arriving at 5 am"
Gee! Thanks for that mess up DR office.
I am driving 3.5 hours from home for this surgery. I had to reserve a hotel room a month in advance to make sure DH had someplace to stay. And now It's the NEXT day!
I love my OBGYN, but I really don't like his head nurse. I hope she hasn't messed anything else up. She had my date of birth listed on my paperwork as a year earlier than it actually is. And she has me in for a same day. I know same day means up to 23 hours. I asked the pre-admin nurse about this and she said that's the definition for insurance purposes and the chart is suppose to say observation if they are keeping you. She also said she has never seen the patient go home on the same day after having the cervix removed.
ARRRRRRRG!!!! This has messed up all my plans and now I have to replan everything and hope it works. Hope the arrangement I made for the small fries works out and their friends parents don't have weekend plans.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? It would be nice to know I'm not alone in my frustration!

Re: They changed my date without telling me!

Hi bananahater

Oh, my, this is not what you need, is it? I hope you will speak up and make sure your doctor (and whoever is in charge of the office/practice) is fully aware, with no question, what has gone on with your medical records and scheduling and how you feel about it. So many of us keep quiet just to keep the peace. I think they should know how their antics impact so many things.

Sorry about the hassle! I hope things go smoothly for you from this point!

Re: They changed my date without telling me!

I am so sorry you are dealing with this. It would be very tough to make plans around one date and find that it has been changed a day.

I have read posts from other women who have had similar experiences of dates changing on them. But perhaps you can talk to your doctor about this and maybe get the date changed back to where it originally was.
