Re: 1 week post-op feeling lost

I was cleared to drive at my 2 week checkup, but I had stopped the pain meds days before and wasn't loopy or anything.

Re: 1 week post-op feeling lost

I just wanted to thank you all again. Last night was a very hard night for me. On top of the surgery, I am also dealing with Coumadin and getting my blood/Coumadin levels theraputic again. I broke my ankle in August and developed 2 blood clots in my legs soon after. I had to go off the blood thinners to have surgery. I think it's just been a huge bunch of everything feeling like it's caving in on me lately, and I think last night was just where it all finally crumbled.
I am still not feeling great, but my mental/emotional state is better today. You are all awesome, and thank you for letting me know I am not alone in this.

Re: 1 week post-op feeling lost

Glad you are feeling better today. Please be kind to yourself and rest. One week post op is very very early in your recovery. No matter how your surgery was performed, don't let others tell you when you should be better. You've had a lot done inside and it takes time. The emotional thing is totally normal too. I cried so much post op, one time literally for two days straight. It's a rough surgery and our hormones get out of whack. And it's hard knowing what is normal since our doctors don't seem to give us much info on what to expect. It's hard not to take it personally when DH isn't nice, but it sounds like he's got his own stuff going on.

Re: 1 week post-op feeling lost

I have decided tomorrow is my day to do NOTHING and not get out of bed unless I have to. Had to go have blood drawn today for the Coumadin and a few other errands. Tomorrow I want to stay in bed and just use my spirometer as I am supposed to. They actually didn't give me much instruction with it at the hospital so I wasn't using it as much as I was supposed to, which the ER doc thinks led to the fever. So, keeping up with that and enjoying a day in bed doing nothing tomorrow I think. Thank you all again!

Re: 1 week post-op feeling lost

Hang in there BlaqCloud! You have been through alot and sometimes I think the men are really a little scared. They know how much we do and they really count on us as the glue that holds the house and family together. When we are down and can't get up it rocks their world!

I dorve a bit sooner than I should have and it made me sore....just be careful and don't overdo. You really have been through alot and need to rest and heal properly. Do that for YOU! The house, dishes, etc. can be a little messy for awhile. You have more important things to be concerned with!

Re: 1 week post-op feeling lost

I hope you're feeling better by now. I refuse to do anything that takes longer than 5 minutes (cleaning-wise) I know once fully healed I won't get another break so I am taking advantage of it while I can, lol
