Re: Swell Belly??

I am 3 months post op and after doing a lot more this past few days I have a huge swelly belly. I had to wear my dressy sweats to work today. It comes and goes. I am back for the most part to wearing my regular pants and just the occasional day like today.

Re: Swell Belly??

My friend visiting is my best friend and her intent is to literally come out and hang out on the couch and watch tv with me. She isn't expecting me to be able to do anything but putter around the house a bit. I was just thinking that at that point I might be going a little stir crazy.

You did bring up a valid point that I hadn't thought of and that is a car accident.

Re: Swell Belly??

I had DvH on 1/13 and I literally looked 5-6 months pregnant for about 2 weeks. In the 3rd week it went away, but I do get a little bloating after I eat or if I develop gas. I have no swelly belly now and I'm able to do quite a lot - shopping (but no lifting), laundry, sweeping (slowly) and I've been driving daily since day 14.

Re: Swell Belly??

I'm 9 weeks out and I can just now comfortably wear jeans. I've been wearing them for a couple weeks but just now I'm at the point where it doesnt feel weird. For the first 3-4 weeks after I had to get those stretchy waist fake jeans from Walmart.. lol It was either that or sweats!

Re: Swell Belly??

I didn't go out until 11 days post op when I went for f/u. I had someone drive me; glad I did because I wouldn't have had the energy to take myself. I didn't have energy to go for short walk outside until another 5 days after that. I would try not to plan for anything specific and just go with what feels comfortable at the moment. It can be hard if you set expectations. I was very fit prior to this and thought I would bounce back quickly. It's been hard that it's taken longer than I expected of myself (didn't help that at pre-op appt. doc insisted I'd be well enough to return to work at 2 weeks ). Needless to say, I asked for more time and now today, at 23 days post-op I'm just starting to feel like I might get my life back. The point is, you will read tons of stories on here and realize everybody recovers a little bit differently. Be kind to yourself.

Re: Swell Belly??

The swelly belly Is different for everyone it seems. I was huge a few days post op. my flat tummy looked 6 months pregnant and was swollen up to my bra band. I am 6+ months post op and still have swelly belly. Can't wear my jeans or any of my regular pants. Some women on this site still have it at 19 months and some never get it at all. No guarantees unfortunately.
It's nice your friend is coming to hang out. I couldn't have gone out to eat or shop at 2 weeks, but some people manage it. At two weeks I was mostly in bed and the spotting had started and the emotions were going crazy. I hope you have a good recovery.

Re: Swell Belly??

Hi All,
Swelly Belly, what a pain! I'm a little over 8 weeks post op. My swelly belly comes and goes. I guess this is normal from what I've read. It isn't as bad as it was the first 4 weeks. Pretty much when I stopped hurting was when the swelly belly went down. I'm cleared for normal activity now so I've started swimming laps again and doing light workouts. That seems to help me and also keeping very hydrated helps. I try to drink a lot of water during the day. I don't really like water so I make decaf tea and drink that hot or cold.
Anyway, my husband is taking me out to dinner for V-Day and I really want to wear my 'little black dress'. It is form fitting so I hope my belly will behave that night!!!
