3 weeks to go, so many questions???

Hi Ladies,
I have so much to say but I guess I should start with alittle about me
I have been very ill for the past 4 years eventually DXed with a condition called "POTS". And it keeps me pretty ill on a daily basis.
I always noticed my menses making me so sick I would have pelvic cramps, back, and sometimes legs. My periods would drain the life outta of me normally 7 days and by the end I would have to recover, might I add never anemic but I am LOW blood volume* had a fancy test to determine that.
Well to get to the point sorry my mind is everywhere 2day
They found a tiny mass on my right ovary and at my follow-up appointment I was told ovary needs to come out! With my prior issues I suggested taking everything besides a ovary, Yes I voluntarily wanted a hyster and My doctor agreed! I am 33 and I delivered 5 children vaginally. I had a c125 test done and it was 45 so she suspects endometerosis.

So my question are am I crazy for suggesting having this done?

How long do you bleed afterwards?

And I have been dealing with depression and anxiety for many years and all this is taking a toll on me, would a anti-depressant be okay to start before surgery?

Thank You All for all the advice and comfort in advance.

Re: 3 weeks to go, so many questions???

You are the only one who can determine whether this is the right decision for you. I, too, had endometriosis, and the first time a hyster was suggested, I was only 29, so decided to try other options before going there. At 34, when I was finally OK with it, the gynecologist I saw told me that my problems were not gynecological (I think he is a total jerk). I understand reaching the point where you just want the pain to stop.

I finally had my hyster 16 years later. The new doctor (I really like this one) took everything and excised the endometriosis that was already there. I feel like a new person! I am now on HRT, and it is helping to level out other hormonal imbalances, especially my thyroid function.

If you have been dealing with depression and anxiety, you need to talk with your doctor about this, too. If medication is the route you choose to go, it can take several weeks before you feel its full effects. After the surgery, you may experience more intense depression symptoms because of all the changes that will happen in your life, as well as the hormonal impact of having your ovaries removed.

I hope this helps.
