Re: Questions to ask Dr

Will they take my cervix, ovaries, appendix? Which surgery procedure will he use? What was the percentage that the LAVH will turn into a TAH? Will I have stitches or surgical tape? How long will I stay in the hospital? Will I get an epidural or general anesthesia? Will they take the catheter out prior to me waking from surgery? Approximately how long will the surgery last?

These are some of the questions I can remember asking. I went in with a list from different stuff I had read on this site. The doctor said he was glad I came in with questions because this is my body and to call him if I had any more questions.

Hope this helps.

Re: Questions to ask Dr

I'd also ask if they are going to attach the vagina to the tendons for suspension. I believe most do now, but it's worth asking.

Re: Questions to ask Dr

I went for my pre-op on Tuesday and they covered everything really well even before I asked. I felt much better than before I went. At least I know more about what to expect. My DVH is also Feb. 17th. Seems like the hardest part is waiting (and prep). Hang in there!

You might ask for your pain med rx in advance and go ahead and get it filled.
