1st Pre-op appointment

I had my first pre-op appointment with my doctor today. Other than having to wait 2 1/2 hours!! All went well...she was WAY behind today and I felt sorry for her, the poor woman hadn't even eaten lunch!

Anyway, I will be having the dVH or the RALH. She does all of her surgeries as outpatient!!! I've never heard of that before! I'm a little nervous, but she's been doing them a very long time so I'm sure she knows what she's doing.

I've decided to have my cervix removed as well....the benefits just far out weigh the risks for me. I had my ovaries and tubes removed in the past.

I think I might have mentioned before that my husband is in Kuwait and won't be home for a visit till July so my aunt is flying in to be with me for a week and a half. I'm so glad that she's going to be with me because this is very emotional for me and I lost my Mom a few years ago. She's my Mom's sister

Now, I just have my pre-op with the hospital on Monday and surgery the next week! EEK!

Praying for all those going before me!!!

Re: 1st Pre-op appointment

Glad your pre-op with your doc went well. Having outpatient surgery is not uncommon with DvH or LSH. Some ladies would rather be kept over night. If you think you need it, be sure to ask.

I am glad your maternal aunt is coming in to stay with you and help you out for a bit, as DH is in Kuwait and your mom has passed away. This is a tough surgery without your mom, isn't it? I lost my mom almost 8 years ago and I really wished she was here for my surgery when I had it. But, my DH was with me so that was good. Remember, you may still have driving restrictions, activity restrictions, and will probably have lifting restrictions - no more than 10 lbs for six weeks. Don't over do it trying to take care of things after your aunt leaves. Maybe a neighbor can help. And having a clean house is not important - you just get once chance to heal right so take it easy.

Wishing you the best for your surgery. We will be waiting for you on the other side.

Re: 1st Pre-op appointment

SMkatt, I didn't realize how much we had in common. I lost my mom 2 yrs in April and I wish she could be her to talk to and hold my hand but I know she'll have her arms around me during surgery. I always can feel her with me when I've gone through my past two surgeries. She's my Irish Angel. I'm sure your mom will be doing the same. =.o} Not to mention your sweetie will be sending up all kinds of prayers and positive energy to you as will those of us in the group here.

Oh and I looked up that place and there isn't one near me in NY. :/

Remember afterwards: Warm water and lemon for constipation and prunes (nature's candy) and gas pains rub your belly with circular motions 10 times on way and reverse 10 times. Do that a few times to get the pair moving in the right direction….out. Just a few tips from my Irish Angel. ::

And don't your get to talk to your angel, I'm sure she'll be there listening.

(((hugs)))) Let me know what time you go in and I'll be saying a prayer for you, your surgeon and your hubby.

Enjoy the rest of your week. C-ya on FB.
