Mollie--waiting is HORRIBLE. I found out 12 days ahead of time about my surprise hysterectomy (I hadn't been in pain and had no clue I'd be having one). As far as I'm concerned, I wish I'd found out 12 HOURS ahead of time!!

Enjoy your stay at the castle!

Looks like Jan. 7th is going to be a busy day at the castle. I am having my TVH w/anterior and possibly posterior repair then as well.

I have been a cleaning machine. We have had snow the last couple of days and they are calling for freezing rain Sunday. I have to be at the castle by 6:00 Monday. I am my DR's first surgery of the day. I like that!!! I have to do an enama at home the night before, and I have never had to do one. I think that will be the hardest thing I'll have to do.

Waiting has been very difficult. I have known for about seven weeks. I appreciate the advice about the pillow. I have also made plans to keep my laptop close to the couch to keep in touch.

Hello Catwalk...

Don't feel bad I will have to do the enema thing too. I have never done that before either. It will be a new experience for the both of us. EWW!

I am having the LAVH. My surgery is scheduled for 9:30 but I need to be there at 7:30. I feel bad for our Sister that has to wait until 5:00 that evening! My trip to the castle is 80 miles away from home. So, DH & myself are leaving Sunday afternoon and will stay in a hotel near the hospital. I am sure I will be posting up until I walk out the door.

Has anyone packed yet? I haven't gotten that far, that is on the agenda for today.

Take Care Sisters!

BIG ,s!!!

yuk

My doc is making me do a full bowel prep - liquids only begining Saturday night, clear liquids all day Sunday with a bowel prep potion in the afternoon and an enema before I go to bed. YUK!!!

A girlfriend of mine said maybe I'd lose some weight (always trying for those last 10). I said yeah, but it seems as though I'll be getting a swelly belly too....

Today's my last day in the office - I'm shutting down and clearing out. I want to buy myself a new cosmetics bag this afternoon, and get some of that salt-scrub. I don't think I want everyone looking at my flaky winter legs. I want a pedicure too.

I feel I'm just getting really silly. Earlier this week I was worried about pain and hormones and real stuff. Now I just want to look good in my Hystersister night shirt (yes I bought one - don't think I have the nerve to wear a crown in the castle, though)

Best wishes to us!! Champagne this time next week!!

Are you doing a Fleet enema? If so, it is a piece of cake. NOTHING to it. However, don't let it get too cold (we live in Northern MN and keep our house at 62). Warm it up a bit with warm water. When you put it in, the cold Fleet liquid will feel really weird. If it's warm, it won't. TRUST ME--the Fleet enema is NO BIGGIE.

As for the full bowel prep, I've done those at least three times for a barium enema, and actually--I felt really cleansed afterwards (and lost weight ). The worst is not eating anything but a liquid diet. The actual prep itself is not bad at all--just somewhat tedious.

KAREN--as far as finding a reason to have to cancel your surgery--I thought of that as well, but then I realized I'd just be POSTPONING it, which would actually make it worse. Imagine having to wait LONGER!!! YECH!

Hi Bookoholic!

Thanks for the tip on the Fleets Enema. I will make sure to warm that puppy up. I wasn't put on a liquid diet, like some of the other sisters. I will be sure not to over do it though. DH was talking about dining at a buffet or Mexican food...sounds painful to me. I was thinking more along the lines of soup and crackers.

Have a great day!

Fleet Enema

Hi. I have to do one, too. My mother said to do two. I guess to make sure you're really cleaned out. I was reading a post just now that talked about wearing pjs in the hospital. I wasn't planning on brining any. I figured they would want me in the "hospital gown". Is this a mistake? Am I going to want my own pajamas or gown? I just figured when it came time to walk that I would put on a robe and slippers and take off.

Good luck to all my Jan. 7th sisters. You will certainly be in my prayers...

Be sure you don't warm up the Fleet too much! I doubt you could, however.

I brought my own jammies and robe and never used them. I'm glad I didn't--I just used theirs instead. MUCH easier. Keep your nice things for at home! (Just my opinion!) Do bring slippers (they gave me some, but they were a joke).

As for dinner on Sunday--well, I took the advice of someone on this forum and ATE LIGHTLY ALL DAY. In fact, I stopped eating much around late afternoon. I highly recommend that. Don't be starving, but I really think that helped with the after-surgery nausea. I did NOT throw up or get the dry heaves. My surgery was around noon on Monday and I didn't eat much after 3 pm on Sunday. Prior to that I kept it light with foods I enjoy (peanut butter sandwich, soup, etc.).

I'd give the thumbs down on a big Mexican dinner unless you have a cast iron stomach.
