urination post op

I had my laprascopic hysterectomy on Feb 10th and I am feeling better than I thought I would. They removed my fibroid and uterus and kept my cervix and ovaries.

My problem huge problem was my bladder...I had suffered from leakage from an enlarged uterus over the years. My surgery took over 5 hours due to the bladder repair...it was lifted and a sling was placed. My catheter was removed on Saturday and I cannot stop urinating...at first it was every 5 minutes, then every hour and is now every 2 hours....is this normal? and when will it start to get better?

Re: urination post op

In surgery, they pump you full of fluids. I was the same and couldn't stop urinating for the first few days post-op. It eventually settles but don't be surprised if all of a sudden, you lose the urge. If you do, it will come back. It took over a month for my urge to come back.

Re: urination post op

I am 7 weeks post op LAVH/bladder sling - I still have trouble when it comes to peeing - I think I'm done and then I get up and it's like oops - guess I wasn't - I'm hoping it ends soon. At my 6 week post my doc said it was still early on in my recovery and it was normal. Easy for him to say! I don't like the "leaking"
