Did anyone return to work at 2 weeks?

My doctor has said I should budget four weeks out of work. But she also said a lot of people are asking to go back after two weeks and we could talk about that. My employer is being very supportive and they are encouraging me to stay out as long as I need to. I just wonder if there is anyone who really returned to work at two weeks. I will wait and see how I feel but I don't want to set myself for disappointment if this is really not a possibility.

Re: Did anyone return to work at 2 weeks?

My girlfriend went back at 2wks and 2 days. It was rough, but she did it. We are teachers and she didn't have any sick days and would have been docked. She was really tired, but she did it.

Re: Did anyone return to work at 2 weeks?

i returned to work part time on the 5th day post op and full time on day 12.That being said I work at home in an attached classroom teaching preschool. I have a recliner in my classroom and took frequent rests in it.I paid attention to my body mechanics not putting any unnecessary stress on my abdomen.I did no lifting over a gallon of milk's weight .I truly wished I could have had more time and was a little resentful I did not.
My families depend on me ,my help got sick and was unavailable so I was it.
Take all the time you can afford and need would be my advice to you.

Re: Did anyone return to work at 2 weeks?

I really suggest taking as much time as you can! It doesn't take much to over do it during recovery and you can only heal right once. Good luck!!

Re: Did anyone return to work at 2 weeks?

I could not imagine going back at 2 weeks. I had a TAH on 1/12 and Am just now thinking I may be up to going back. I've been approved for 7 weeks, scheduled to go back on 3/1. I work 10 hour days sitting in my home office and sitting is what causes me the most discomfort. I plan to take the full 7 weeks if need be.

Re: Did anyone return to work at 2 weeks?

I can't recommend strongly enough that you take all the time you can possibly get.
You may feel fine, but your body has been through major surgery and has a lot of healing to do. You risk doing yourself some harm if you don't rest and take it easy.
I know others have gone back at 2 weeks and had no problems but most would have liked longer if it was possible.

All the best!

Re: Did anyone return to work at 2 weeks?

I had a tavh & bso idk about anyone elso but I am not even allowed to drive for 2 weeks so returning to work would be an absolute no no. Walking around the house longer than 5-10 minutes a day tires me out. I have been out of hosp 4 days my operation was 2-7 12...............good luck on your recovery.............

Re: Did anyone return to work at 2 weeks?

I haven't had my surgery but my hair stylist had her surgery and needed more than 4 weeks because she stands all day. Her friend went back to work too soon and over did it she has since had more surgeries and is in pain. Her advice to me is you only have one chance to heal do it right.

Re: Did anyone return to work at 2 weeks?

My doctor told me I could return at 3 weeks but I told work I won't be back until 4 weeks at the earliest. I'm only 11 days post-op, but lack of energy is my biggest issue. My daily nap is still a necessity, not a luxury at this point. I have to move around too much in my job to think about returning at 2 weeks. Listen to your body and good luck!
