Re: Did anyone return to work at 2 weeks?

I drive a motor coach for a living and I think I will wait 4 weeks after mine... if I need longer I will take it.

Re: Did anyone return to work at 2 weeks?

How soon a person returns to work depends on what type of surgery she had (TAH is usually the longest to recover from, daVinci is usually the shortest) and what her doctor says. You and your doctor will decide what is the best recovery time for you.

My friends stop by when they can to give me little breaks and my families do everything they can to help out in the am and pm. If I had PTO, sisters! I would have taken it! I love the weekend, I don't move barely at all!

I have the identical career and took the exact amount of time off as you did.I had help scheduled but she got very ill.i was on my own from day 12 and was back part time after 4 days after surgery.
I would have taken more if I and my business could have survived it.Our families depend on us to be available so they can work!

Re: Did anyone return to work at 2 weeks?

My dr said I could return to work after 2 weeks. I have to since I am not getting pd for the 2 weeks I have to take off currently since I had my surgery on Feb 17th. However, I can take frequent breaks and I will only work for a week and a half and then I had a week vacation already planned before I found out about my surgery. So I will get another short break.

Re: Did anyone return to work at 2 weeks?

This is my 4th week. I feel fine, however I still feel weak. I went to my doctor yesterday hoping to have clearence and go back to work. After the check up she told that the tissues are not heal yet. I have to go back next week. My mom went back on the 4th week and she had many problems after because she did not heal well. Be careful don't overdue it and take your time. I am planning to take my 6 weeks an go back on the middle of the week that way I won't be so hard I am a Teacher Assistant and I am in my feet 8 hours. Listen to your body don't rush.

Know what you mean...I am in accounting, so over sitting around the house trying to find things to occupy me and have decided I might as well sit at work on the computer...I feel up to it and they have said I can do flexi hours...I am quite a bit ahead of you in surgery dates but as you are 15th I was the 6th...well I'll tell you how I get on next week...

Good luck to you! I will do half days if I can't make it all the way through. My boss said he would work with me. I may be a little more recent surgery wise but I had the da vinci so I'm hoping for miracles. LOL! Today is my post op appointment with my doc to get released back to work.

Re: Did anyone return to work at 2 weeks?

Hi! My doctor told me that I am ok to go back work after 4 weeks. I really felt tired so he told me to rest one more week. And do not lift heavy things.
I am quite better. Less time in bed but after walking I get tired esily.

Re: Did anyone return to work at 2 weeks?

I'm torn with this as well. My surgery was 2/9 and I had my post op visit today. She said overall i look good. She said I could drive but only light activity, frequent rest etc. I started walking this week and experience some pain and tire easily. Last week I was in the ER for severe pain post op. I am approved for 6 weeks leave until 3/21. She said if I wanted to back at 4 weeks I could if I could do 1/2 days. I work at home but my job is very stressful and a normal day is 10 to 12 hours. I just know if I go back at 4 weeks I would get sucked into long hours and it would probably mess up my STD. She said if I can take off 6 weeks then that was good. BUT I feel guilty!!!! I know how busy my coworkers are altho they are being super supportive (and several have had their own surgeries where they have been out). I have done so much overtime for that company over the past 5 years that my husband thinks I'm ridiculous for even giving it a second thought. Why do I feel guilty??? I know taking the ful 6 weeks is the best thing and it's approved so why am I hard on myself. I also feel bad because I'll be off for a week in mid April for a vacation planned long before the surgery. I'll work my butt off to get caught up before I go out again. I know I'm very fortunate to have the leave -- why can't I just enjoy it? Sorry for sounding crazy..... Any suggestions to help me get over my guilt?
