Just had my pre-op

My pre-op went well and I can honestly say that I am looking forward to getting my hysterectomy. (This may waiver over the next week due to pre-op anxiety, but for now I am excited about it!)

I made a list of questions to ask my surgeon and he answered most of them before I got out my list. The plan is to keep my ovaries if at all possible, but there is a possibility that one or both could have to go because he suspects endometriosis as well as adenomyosis. I have been having ovulatory and period pain near my bowel and left ovary for a few years now so I am glad I may finally have some answers as to why.

He looked at my belly and showed me where he planned to put in the scopes and tools. I asked him about granny panties but we decided that I'd probably be fine with my bikini undies. I can always send DH out to get me some of the others if need be.

He was giving me a big speech about the importance of doing the bowel prep but I reassured him that I am on board for that so he smiled and backed off. I am just bummed that miso soup is too thick for my bowel prep day. I am anticipating being very hungry by surgery time.

By the time I got home, the hospital had already called. I have to get a faxed release from my neurosurgeon who did my brain surgeries last summer. I have left a message for them and hope to have that taken care of soon.

I'm going to the lab tomorrow for blood work.

My biggest worry at this point is that the insurance won't cover it or that it will be canceled. We'll see how I feel in a few days.....

Re: Just had my pre-op

DancingPopcorn, I had my pre-op today too, and we are having surgery on the same day

I'm glad you had a good visit. Today's visit helped a lot with my nerves. Now I'm just going to keep myself busy.
