This may be a dumb question, but.....

Hi Stacy,

Everything can go in the same IV...the morphine (or whatever you get for pain), the fluid your dr chooses for you to have, and anitbiotic (if needed). Also, some "shots" you might need for nausea can be given through one of the ports in the IV line.

I.V.

Hi Julie,

Many years ago I had an ovarian cyst removed. They put the I.V. into the top of my left hand. It was pretty painless. During the night however, the IV somehow became disloged from the vein and the fluid went into my hand. My hand swelled up to three times its size and my wedding ring was starting to cut off the circuluation to the fingers. I did'nt wear my wedding ring for my last surgery and will not wear it for my hysterectomy on Jan 18.
Just another thing to keep in mind.
