stinging pain in vagina & abdomen

Hi ladies,
My da Vinci hysterectomy was Feb 1st, I had a vaginal cuff done also. I'm 30yrs old & have been walking 25-30min 4* a week since 8days post op. I still need my pain meds, motrin and a muscle relaxer. As of yesterday Sat I've been having a stinging pain in my vagina and where my stitches are on my abdomen. Besides bending over to put lotion on legs (which doesn't cause me pain at all) after I shower, this is all I've done. Is this stinging & achey pain to be expected? Thanks ladies

Re: stinging pain in vagina & abdomen

Achey pain sounds about right. I had a lot of aches and pains as I healed. The stinging pain would have me calling the doc. You are on pain meds which should be helping with this. While I healed, I developed pain all around my vagina and the whole area. Turned out that some stitches he put in my bowel (he knicked it during surgery) had totally come apart. He had to fix it up. I would call the doc tomorrow and ask about the pain.

Re: achy & stinging pain in vagina??

As I moved through my recovery, different parts of my body experienced different sensations. I found it interesting that I actually experienced more burning and stretching sensations at 4 weeks than I did at 2 weeks post op. I attributed it to the fact that the sensation was returning above my incision, which meant that I could actually feel how much healing my body required. It also reminded me to slow down and rest when I needed it.

Listen to your body, and do the things that keep you from experiencing the achiness. For example, make sure you are sitting down when you apply lotion, and find resting positions that take the pressure off your vagina and abdominal incisions.

Take care and I wish you a continued good recovery.

Re: stinging pain in vagina & abdomen

I'm having the same problem I keep saying burning but it is more like a stinging sensation. I was thinking it's apart of the healing process. However, I do have it on my list to ask my doc this Thursday.
But let's us know what your doc says about the issue.

Re: stinging pain in vagina & abdomen

I too have been feeling stinging in my vagina and random pains in my abdomen. I feel sure it is the healing process because I have also been losing stitches when I use the bathroom.

Re: stinging pain in vagina & abdomen

Ladies per the doc, the stinging in the vagina & abdomen is part of the healing process. Nothing bad
