Recovery Question

Hello, I am scheduled for a complete hysterectomy using the daVinci on February 24. I am trying to prepare as much as possible but I have one really big concern that has my stomach in knots. I am a single mother with a severely autistic 2 1/2 year old son who is VERY attached to me. He is constantly jumping on me and being very rough and is currently on meds (that aren't working) for self injury issues. We will be staying with my mom for as long as it takes to recover, but besides my mom and the 13 hours a week of respite care for my son, we won't have any other help. I'm wondering how much damage could be done if my mom or someone else loses grasp for a second and my son gets to me. I'm also wondering how long I will have to wait before letting him sit on my lap or sleep in bed with me like he currently does. I am trying to make sure I take care of myself, but being a single mom to an autistic child makes it hard to take care of myself. Any suggestions or opinions?

Re: Recovery Question

daVinci is an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING procedure and THANK GOD for Mom!
My children are grown and on their own but I have 3 very active granddaughter's ages 5,3 and 3 and I live with my 'beloved' as well as very active miniature Schnauzer dogs, whom sleep with me as well!I felt a tremendous sense of protection with my abdominal binder on as much as possible and still do.My daughter and nurse taught me how to use a pillow as a form of protection/comfort also, great idea for sleeping, when you have to cough or sneeze,etc..You just keep protected by a simple pillow but I really think you are going to be impressed with the speed of outside healing with the daVinci!Best wishes to you and your family.
