How much is too much?

I'm 4 weeks post SILS total hysterectomy, and I honestly have been taking it easy--I don't work, have no kids at home, and, except for dr appts, have not been out at all. I've had a sinus infection for the last week, so I have had no energy to do anything, which helped keep me on the couch, but three days ago, I went with my husband to Sears to look for new appliances (we are having our kitchen re-done and have to order them now so they are here for when they workers come). We then went to Best Buy for a quick look then Sam's, where we shopped for a bit.

By the time we came home, I developed a real bad pain in my upper right thigh, near the groin, that I didn't have since the first few days after my surgery. I assume that it was my body telling me I did too much, but all I did was walk around a few stores!

It's been three days now and I still have pain there, and also where my right ovary was. My mom says I should call the dr, but I assume it's just I over-did. So my question is, how much is too much? Can I count on not being able to even walk around a little bit? and for how long?

Re: How much is too much?

Hmmm.. The leg groin pain concerns me only because of blood clots.. Any swelling in the legs at all?

Our bodies definitely push back and considering your saying you have not done to much at all in 4 weeks, maybe just doing that little bit in one shot was to much at once for your body since you did not ease into things..

I had a setback today myself as well..

Shoot the doc a call none the less is what I would do. Better safe than sorry..

Re: How much is too much?

No, no swelling. I had the same pain after I got back from the hospital, and when I went it to see her because I had developed fever, she didn't seem too concerned, nor did she have any explanation for it. I have seen other sisters describe groin pain after surgery so I assumed it was not abnormal.

Re: How much is too much?

Then most likely from not easing back into things. Try to go for short walks outside. Start with 10 minutes and gradually work your way up.

What a rollercoaster this surgery is..
