Re: When will I be able to vacuum?

My doc told me 6 weeks and for me that is next week, however, my doc added another week onto my recovery so maybe week 7 I can clean again. It might be different for others. Right now im only allowed to wash dishes (no big pots and pans) and wipe down counters.

Re: When will I be able to vacuum?

I would call my doctors office, my doctor told me 8 weeks. Every doctor, every surgery, and every case is different. Double check with your doctor, better safe than sorry.

Re: When will I be able to vacuum?

Thank you so much for asking that question! I was wondering the same thing. I am 11 days post op and the pet hair is making me crazy! I keep thinking about taking that vaccuum out but haven't done it yet. I might live with the pet hair a bit longer!

Re: When will I be able to vacuum?

So sorry, but every time I see a vacuuming thread I have a vision of all of us sitting on the couch with belly bands, unshaven legs, sweat pants, surrounded by huge dust bunnies ready to attack.

Re: When will I be able to vacuum?

I know how you feel!! I wanted to vacuum after the first week! I waited until week two and just went really slow...but I have to say, I was a bit crampy afterwards and have decided to just live with the hair for another week or so. I did find that I could do almost everything else though--in phases--if I go really slow after week two.

Re: When will I be able to vacuum?

At 7 weeks post---I pushed vacummn cleaner from 1 room to the next one.i felt ok.well within 3 hours it felt like someone had poured boiling hot water on my belly.dr. said i had tore a vaginal muscle.it took almost 4 weeks to heal and now i have an appointment w/ a urologist cause it still hurts to pee but not as bad.it affected peeing and my whole vagina just about killed me and i thought i was better at 7 weeks .they had released me @5 weeks.dr. said he thought i knew this that his nurse's or hospital would've told me this.but in his opinion he said to wait 3 months period.i was like now you tell me.
but girls,i thought i was better,so i would strongly advise not to attempt this.

Re: When will I be able to vacuum?

I agree with everyone who has said to hold off on it. If it's like my house, it will only get dirty again in a very short amount of time and it's like a vicious cycle. Having a clean house isn't worth potentially doing damage to yourself. I didn't attempt to vacuum until between 6-7 weeks and even then I was VERY careful and didn't try to pick it up or make any jerky movements.

Re: When will I be able to vacuum?

I'm 9 weeks and I still haven't vacuumed or carried the laundry basket. My hubby is doing that for me. I now consider myself a recovering neat-freak. I used to go crazy if I saw dust or dog hair, but not anymore. I want to make sure I am totally healed before I do anything unnecessary, which cleaning really is. Take your time, the dust will wait for you!
