Re: When will it be safe to have sex? Specific situation.

I'd like to point out that vaginal cuff dehiscence can happen even after several weeks, when stitches were gone and internal examination had been done. I've learned it reading the papers available on the internet.

After the two weeks you're supposed to wait, sister, you could clean your finger very well (isobetadine...), and feel inside your vagina. If there are stitches, chances are you'll feel them. I did. But, please: I'm not a doctor and I'm only telling you about my own experience.

My doctor has seen me at 4 weeks, before I went to work at 4 weeks post-op. She told me the stitches were still there that I should wait till the 8 weeks post-op (in one week and a few days from now) to resume sports and intercourse. She had cleared me for bath, pool and outercourse.

If your doctor told you to wait two weeks, I'd just wait the two weeks and feel inside myself for the stitches (very, very gently, with super clean finger, of course).

For the record, vaginal cuff dehiscence can happen even due to BM (I've read on one of the scientific papers one can find on the net).

I was just trying to help - My point was just that if my doctor told me I wasn't healed but that I would be fine in an undefined period of time during which he would not even check me to confirm I was indeed fine, I wouldn't feel very secure about having sex, etc, ie wouldn't feel like I had a good game plan. Sorry if I offended you somehow.

I wasn't cleared until after 12 weeks. Fretted and waited another. Then very carefully for months!

No complications, just worry.
