The Date!!!

I had my pre-op on Wednesday and am scheduled for my surgery on March 28th. I am super glad to finally have a date, but to be honest, I am also nervous and scared now that I have a date. This has made this whole experience "real" for me now. My FMLA paperwork is being processed and now I am nervous. I will be glad when this whole saga is over. Doctor said that since I have given birth vaginally twice that we should be able to do the surgery vaginally. Not sure how I feel about that either. I watched the videos and the vaginal surgery kind of scared me. Guess we will find out March 28th.

Re: The Date!!!

mine was done TAH with a vertical incision, and like you when i was given my date that is when it really hit but i only had two weeks when i was given my date and i do believe i walked around in a fog. At my appt in September I knew i was going to have it sometime in October/November and they called in november with the date. At that point everything went into slomotion as it was suddently very real. Try focusing on what you will need to help you recover, your plan for while you are off, what about meals, house cleaning - you willnot be doing any for awhile, a help network cause for the first two weeks you will not feel like doing anything.

I find if you are focusing on what you will need to do after the surgery it will be here before you know it. Make lists on what you need to take, any final questions for the dr/surgeon, books to read, meals to make, movies to watch, etc...

Wishing the best for you

Re: The Date!!!

Thanks so much for the words of encouragement!! They truly help. The doctors office called me back and changed my appointment to April 3rd, so now I have even a little longer to wait. I will work on making and freezing meals and what I will do as I recover. Take care!
