nervous yet excited

hello everyone , my name is jackie and ive just found out ill be having a TAH some time in may or june. Ive had heavy periods all my life and nauseating cramps with various problems surrounding pregnancies and uterine infections. I had the mirena coil put in a year and a half ago and ive had non stop bleeding ever since. i have two children and im also sterilised. Im rather nervous about the procedure pain wise but im also really looking forward to getting my life back. what i would like to know is what can i expect post op and is the pain as bad as a sterilisation or c section.

Re: nervous yet excited

the pain depends on your level of pain tolerance, as long as you stay on top of your pain. I have had 2 c-sections (honestly dont remember it completely) and a TAH, by far as the TAH is in my memory I had pain but was on top of it . If you are asking if you will be up as quickly as after a c-section I would say no.

my incision was vertical so was different in way i moved and sat was afraid of splitting open lol it was not well founded as i was sewed up tight and have had not issues with it. I still have twinges and but they are getting less.

definitely make sure you follow the instructions from your dr and have a tummy pillow to help with laughing, coughing, sneezing,... I found it comforting to have it on my stomach.

But considered with all you went through it will not be as bad as you think if you follow the drs instructions and keep on top of the pain

for me there was nothing i would say was totally unbareable for me, hope this helps some for you.

Re: nervous yet excited

My TAH was 3 months ago. It was much harder than both csections. Pain was not unbearable but it was not fun. I am older now so part of that is my reason for saying that the hyster is harder and it was a much longer recovery.
