Spotting 7 Months Post Op

I had my surgery in July 2011 and today I started spotting. It's not much at all, but it's bright red. I haven't had spotting for many months, and no sex in the last week. Any thoughts on what could cause this? My doctor isn't in today, so I made an appointment for early Monday morning. I'm worried.

Re: Spotting 7 Months Post Op

Could it be because of vaginal dryness? I've not had this experience, but I did have a lot of problems with nose bleeds in years past and it was a result of dry membranes. Even a small break in the tissue can lead to a lot of bleeding. I can only assume that it might be the same with the vagina.

I offer this an an alternative explanation so you don't stress too much as you wait for your doctor's appointment. Take care.

Re: Spotting 7 Months Post Op

You need to call your doctor. Any bleeding at the stage of the game is cause for concern. Please keep us up to date on how you are doing.

Re: Spotting 7 Months Post Op

Thanks for your replies. I don't have my cervix and I'm definitely not dry down there either. It's stopped now but I'll still go to the doctor on Monday. It's weird yesterday I was thinking that I miss my period and then I went to the bathroom and there was blood and it freaked me out!

Re: Spotting 7 Months Post Op

Please let me know how you made out. I'm in the same situation. Almost. I'm 5 months post op and for the past few weeks have had bleeding off and on. When it first started I was told it was probably from over working my abdominal area ( I had started working out). Then a couple weeks later, I had extreme pain and was down for a day. They told me an adhesion had probably broken free and to expect some bleeding to accompany it. I've bled off and on since then about 3 weeks. Last week there was like no blood at all, all week. So today, I go for a walk with DH, the dogs, and the kids, come home, and bright red blood is soaked through my undies and even through my jeans. It was only like a 45 minute walk. Now I'm sitting here, waiting for someone to call me back since the ER told me to get ahold of the dr. Sigh.

Re: Spotting 7 Months Post Op

I saw my family doctor this morning. She found a little bit of scar tissue on my vaginal cuff but no real reason for the spotting. As soon as I put my feet up it stopped. So we don't know what the cause was.

Aurora, I'm glad you're speaking to your doctor. You are having much more bleeding than I was and that is concerning. Hope all is well for you.

Thanks ladies for responding to my post

Re: Spotting 7 Months Post Op

Sugar- I'm glad things are working out and there's nothing serious.

Not long after I posted my bleeding subsided. It didn't stop completely but slowed. I talked to a midwife and she told me as long as I wasn't soaking through more than one pad an hour, I'd be ok and to call first thing in the morning and set up an appointment to see dr. I have an appointment tomorrow morning. When I got up this morning, the bleeding was stopped. It started again around 8, I passed about a quarter sized clot or something then it stopped again. Wierd but oh well, as long as its stopped, I'm happy lol.
