uterus didelphys hysterectomy

Well, I have not found anything anywhere to cover where I am at - so I will start a topic and hopefully it will help someone else. I was seeing my OB for menorrhagia (heavy menstrual bleeding). We were all set for me to have an ablation to stop the madness. She sent me for a pelvic ultrasound to rule out any problems. They discovered I had uterus didelphys - two uteruses. This explained so much - both of my children were born prematurely. I had a tubal ligation to prevent another pregnancy because of the concerns my next would not survive. No one ever knew I had two uteruses. Prior to my two children, I had two miscarriages. I always knew my babies were a miracle and blessing but I had no idea how truly lucky I was to have them at all! So, I was no longer a candidate for ablation, and my OB opted for a hysterectomy. She was able to perform a total vaginal hysterectomy (ovaries left in place)- no lapriscopy at all, no incisions on my abdomen. My recovery is going well - I'm three days post-op. I'm feeling pretty good, very tired. My back is sore (I'm guessing from being in bed), and I have not had a BM yet. I'm a bit afraid for that, but nature will prevail. I have been walking, and am trying to remind myself that just because I feel great does not mean I can do anything else. Doc gave me 6 weeks with no activity. Has anyone else been through this? It seems like my procedure was quite simple given the drama preceding it - but Doc is giving me the maximum on taking it easy. It is hard to lie around. There is pain in my abdomen but I'm not sure if that is gas or what... My surgery related pain seems to be at the front of my pelvis and is worse when I have to urinate. I'm guessing it will all just get better gradually. Anyway - thanks for making this site - the information is very helpful.

Ok, things are moving along in the BM department... I have a low grade fever - 99.6.. Instructions to call at 101.5, so I will monitor. Feeling more worn out on day 4 then I did on day 2.
