First post, Surgery in 8 days!

Hi,
I have been reading stories on this site for the past 12mths and thought I would share 'my story'. Basically I have had troubles with extremely painful menstruation since starting at 10yo and severe PMS. I'm 39 now. I have been to several Dr's over the years telling them I feel like something is wrong only to be told to take the pill, take vitamins, eat 6 small meals a day etc. Nothing seemed to work. then about 3-4yrs ago I after a long time trying to cope the pain and lack of energy became chronic and I was 'laid up' for months on end (5mths off work) they thought I had a gastric ulcer as I couldnt eat or drink due to pain. I ended up explaining that when i have been to emergency is always first day of period. They then sent me to specialist and ended up having laporoscopy and they found endo, including on my tummy. Dr also said she thinks I may have adenomyosis. I felt good for about 6-8 weeks then the downward cycle started again until chronic, no relieve from pain for about 4mths (more time off work). I had more surgery, I asked for hystrerectomy but he wouldnt do it due to me not having kids. he put mirena in and I hated it. I stuck it out for just over 6mths then had it removed. I then tried the pill, primolut and nothing working. I have gotten to chronic stage again and have been waiting over 2 months for surgery. I am booked in for 6th March so not long now! in my op 12mths ago he also found more spots on outside of uterus that they say look like adenomyosis and during a recent ultrasound, after a trip to emergency they say I have a lump on my cervix.
I am feeling extremely positive about the suregery and have felt like I need a hysterectomy for a long time now. Apparently my ovaries look healthy so keeping them. He will laser any endo and remove uterus and cervix (no more cancer scares). I am currently iron and vitamin D deficient and on so much medication. I cannot wait to heal, feel good and have energy for life again.
Thanks for sharing your stories, it does help :-) x

Re: First post, Surgery in 8 days!

Thank you,
I try to say to myself, 'pain is my friend, pain is my friend' but it doesnt work! lol. I meditate every day and really enjoy that 'time out'. I am looking forward to being able to have a life again. Apart from when I can go to work for the past few years all I've basically done is rest!
