So sleepy at week 4! Like Dorothy in the field of poppies!

Hi all.

I reached the 4 week mark yesterday. I am off most pain pills, except for the occasional Tylenol or Advil. But, I am so incredibly tired !

Are any of you who are a few weeks out lying around sleeping a ton??

Thanks,

Kathie

Hi!
I'm 2weeks post op and off all pain meds also. My dr didn't want me just laying around you need to try to rebuild your strength (slowly). I do a little bit around the house (no lifting, pushing, pulling) I walk a bit then sit fold clothes sit you get the idea slow and steady. I feel so much better doing small stuff around the house when I start to feel tired feet go up and rest for an hour then get up and do some more. Hope you get some energy soon!

Yes, I do putter, walk, do chores (gently) but at this point, I feel almost more sleepy than I did at two weeks! Like I am in a field of poppies. Weird. You are doing well at 2 weeks and off all pain meds!

I feel you I will be at 4wks Thursday and I get super sleepy! I went to Target with my boys yesterday and when we got in the car I felt like if I closed my eyes I would instantly fall asleep. So sleepy!

Re: So sleepy at week 4! Like Dorothy in the field of poppies!

it is completely normal to be sleepy for awhile. Your body is still healing and it heals best when it is asleep. The tired feeling hangs on for awhile too. I went back to work at 12 weeks and was still so tired when I got home. I started getting my energy back at about the 4 month mark...and now I have more energy than I have had in YEARS!!

I know it is frustrating, but take this time to rest. Your body is trying to tell you something, so listen to it and get the rest you need. This too shall pass, and you will soon have so much more energy.

to you!!

I am 4 weeks today and very tired also. I try not to take a nap because otherwise I don't sleep at night but it is very hard not to!!!

Re: So sleepy at week 4! Like Dorothy in the field of poppies!

I am having the opposite problem - difficulty falling asleep at night - because perhaps I have done so little during the day. I am following what my body tells me - if it says, you are TIRED, then I rest. I am 5 days past total laparoscopic surgery, only needing some ibuprofen or acetominophen now and then. Everything is functioning, but the laparoscopic incisions are getting itchy- maybe this is a sign of healing?
Not sleepy, but I get tired very easily, and am only able to do a few gentle things around the house.
Sleeping with my leg over a body pillow helps a lot!

Re: So sleepy at week 4! Like Dorothy in the field of poppies!

yep, will be 4 weeks Friday and I am always sleepy. Going to take a little nap in a bit. Seems like I get a burst of energy in the morning for about 3 hours and then I hit a wall about 1:00.

I have to start back to work tomorrow, but they are predicting an ice storm and I have to say if they close school, I won't be sad to extend my leave another day.
