18 days post op doc appt..

yeah, finally got to go visit my dr!

had a LAVH with everything being removed, ovaries, cervix, etc. First week I felt pretty darn good, so I did alot of squating to add wood to the fire, and picking up lots of light things off the floor. Well, that did me in, b/c 2nd week, I hurt like h*ll. Even the bleeding stopped at day3 but was back with red blood, during week 2. Bm's hurt, you name it, everything I have read. Well on Monday, kids went back to school, (they had my 2nd week off for winter break) glad they went back too much fighting for me to referee! I felt pretty good, so I sat at this lovely computer, reading, etc for about an hour and later in the day an hour again, did some clothes and that all wore me out!
When I got to dr office, he is in high rise and I always park on top deck and you can see my van from his exam rooms, he tells me he watched me walk across deck and thought I did pretty darn good and he was wondering how I was gonna act when I got in there. I love this doc, I can kid with him, etc....I told him I was coming in there crying, that I was dying! LOL He was gonna let me go back to work at wk 4, and I said, I didnt want too. I told him about my bleed, etc... so he said let me check you, everything looks good, stitches still there, healing looks great, he had to pull 2 stitches out on my belly that were bugging me. I said I have to lift 50 lbs at my job, I work in a school kitchen part time, so I ask for 5 weeks and he said, he would see me again in 2 wks to make it look official since I am still bleeding lightly and most likely I will be back to work 5 wks and 3 days. Still no intercourse, probably for about 3 more weeks.
My insides during surgery looked pretty bad, he said I had moderate endo, in lining of uterus, tubes and in abdominal cavity and lots of scar tissue from previous c-sections. I diffently needed this surgery and glad that I had it done!! He told me, this surgery for him was difficult, not his hardest, but no where near his easiest either!

So I guess, the moral of my story is.....I overdid it week 1, paid for it week 2....and am healing quite well and will get 5 wks off work!!
Oh yeah, no menopause systems so far!
we are gonna start HRT, but closer to summer and he is betting I will have some kind of side effects before then, so lets just see.

Thanks for reading my crazy story and I have so enjoyed reading everyone elses posts! Keep the healing going!!!!

Well, it sounds like you are doing great!! Glad you realized you were over-doing it and slowed down a bit!!!

It sounds like you and your have a great relationship...that makes this surgery so much easier to deal with doesn't it?

Continue to rest and take care of yourself.
