still bleeding

My Hysterectomy was2/13. I'm still bleeding . I go through the VA for my medical care so my primary care Dr. is 2 hrs away and my GYN is 6 hrs away in MPLS. Iwas treated already with CIPRO but they think the bacteria might have been from vaginal discharge. my follow-up appt. was re-scheduled for next Fri. due to the blizzard Wed. in Fargo. How can I tell if the bleeding/discharge is normal or an infection because it has that bad odor also?

Re: still bleeding

Some bleeding is normal. Is it bright red? Are you running a fever? If you have a fever or are going through a pad an hour, then I would have it checked out. If it is slight discharge/bleeding even if bright red, I have been told that is normal healing process. I am 14 days out from DVH and have had a light pink discharge from around day three. It turned bright red around day 9 but only after I had strained too hard for a BM, then it went back to light pink. Went to my post-op appt. yesterday and she said that was normal. Hope this helps. Good luck and I hope you feel better.
