4 weeks post op TAH tomorrow - absolutely no bleeding or discharge, is this normal?

Tomorrow is 4 weeks post op TAH. I have never had any amount of bleeding or dicharge since surgery. I have read a few posts that say their should be some spotting or discharge once the stitches start to dissolve, usually in week 3. At first I just thought that I was fortunate, but now I wonder if I should be concerned???

Thanks for any advice, ladies

Normal! :-)

Sometimes stitches take longer, sometimes you see nothing - stories here on all the above and everything inbetween!

Enjoy it!

I had nothing until my 4 week point, just brownish discharge. Had a different issue and the doc went ahead and did an internal exam (was not comfortable, but bearable) and cleaned it up in there; two days later had it all day then nothing since. Not sure if there is a "normal", I feel lucky to have only had what I did

I didn't have any bleeding or any discharge of any sort apart from some residual bleeding from the surgery on day 1. There seems to be a lot of variation, and I was most pleasantly surprised to have nothing.

I am 7 weeks post op from my TAH. I have not had any bleeding, discharge to spoofing either. At my 5 week appt, my doc said my cuff was healed but my stitches were still in tact. Said they would dissolve at week 6 but I still may not have any signs of it dissolving. She cleared my for all activities at 6 weeks including sex, which I have had and still no discharge, spotting or bleeding. I'm considering myself lucky!!

Re: 4 weeks post op TAH tomorrow - absolutely no bleeding or discharge, is this norma

I had my DvH on Feb. 17th and have had very minimal discharge since then. Only brownish to light pink. One day I had a very sold and painful BM (I probably strained too much) and I spotted bright red for a day, but then back to light pink. VERY little! At my post-op appt. on Thursday my DR. said I was doing great. He did not do an internal exam but will do that in another 4 weeks. I also consider myself lucky. I'm glad you are doing so well!

This is totally normal. I see that you had a SAH so that means that the stitching was done on the abdominal side of your cervix so the chances of seeing any stitches are minimal. The other thing to be aware of is that some doctor use stitches that take as long as two months to dissolve. If you ask for your operative report when you see your doctor, it should state in there what kind of sutures were used and then you can google to see how long they take to dissolve. The stitches used on me were around the 2 month mark for absorption. I hope this helps.

Thank you for your feedback. I actually had TAH, not sure why my options are now showing SAH, it used to show TAH and I can't figure out how to change it. Does that change your opinion at all? And do you know how to change my display? Apparently I am techno challenged today

Re: 4 weeks post op TAH tomorrow - absolutely no bleeding or discharge, is this norma

If you had a TAH, then there is a good chance you will see stitches. The time that may happen does, however, depend on the types of sutures that your doctor used.

To change the SAH to TAH, go up to the purple bar where it says User CP. Click on that then go to the right where you filled out your survey. Go down to where it ask if you kept your cervix. Click "no" and the type of surgery should change to TAH.

I hope this helps.

Re: 4 weeks post op TAH tomorrow - absolutely no bleeding or discharge, is this norma

I had a TAH-BSO (manual surgery) and never had any bleeding after the first day post-op. Never saw any stitches, spotting, etc.
I'd say at 6 months+ I won't be seeing any!!

Some of us just are lucky! Enjoy it!
