Question...

Hi, having Surgery March 14th. TOTALLY can't wait and hopping Aunt Flo hold off ...(every 2.5 weeks right now).
Here is my question....

A number of the post's talk about bleeding after...Really? Period type? How long? And if the Uterus is gone where is the blood coming from?

I ask mainly because I was going to have a Tampon/pad burning party the morning of the surg and i I need some The party needs to be postponed ....

Re: Question...

It depends on the type of surgery, if you ae keeping the cervix etc. Also you will have some spotting pst - op so don't burn them all

Re: Question...

It seems that everyone experiences this one differently, but I had the same surgery that it looks like you are having and I have had absolutely no bleeding.. without the cervix there is no uterine tissue left at all, I believe this comes into play. Several sisters have mentioned some minor bleeding when the stitches dissolve, which is about 5 weeks out.. not there yet, so not sure how that will affect me. I presented my sister with a giant bag of pads and tampons in all shapes and sizes! She laughed, and being one of those lucky women who gets normal short periods.. says she's stocked up for six months now

Re: Question...

I had a TAH, so cervix was removed as well. The bleeding that I experienced was very light and only last for about 5-6 days post-op. By light I mean a pantyliner worked just fine. I was told it is bleeding from where the stitches are healing.
I have read that if you keep your cervix you can have mini-periods, so might want to hold off on burning those pads!
Best wishes on your upcoming surgery!

Re: Question...

I kept my cervix and have had no bleeding or discharge...so far. Doubt I will at this point. I used panty liners for the first two weeks, just in case.

Re: Question...

I wouldn't burn your pads just yet! When keeping the cervix, there is a chance you'll continue to have mini periods.

Re: Question...

Love the idea of burning the pads and tampons!! I'll keep a few liners around just in case but the rest are going up in smoke!!!
Best wishes to you!!
