On the crazy train, help!

Today I almost stayed home from work. I had my first and only Lupron 3 month shot in Jan 30 2012. My hysterectomy is scheduled for 4/6. I am hoping that in the two month time period it can shrink my uterus and fibroid. I have one the size of a cantaloupe on my uterine wall/cervix.

My first month of Lupron was fine, only soreness in the injection site. Man, did that HURT! I kept up with working out and trying to remain normal. This second month though - I am full of rage and then, exhaustion.

I am only 34 and feel like I'm 80 by 5pm. My mood swings are horrific and for the first time last night I had such rage I didn't know what to do. I also drank some wine though, and was wondering if alcohol ups the ante for rage while on this shot? I mean, I wanted to throw a plate! I didn't want to be NEAR my bf, I was swearing so much, I really wasn't myself. It was scary. I can get mouthy after too much wine, but it was as if every single thing this man was saying was a direct hit to my ego/soul. Overly sensitive doesn't even cut it.

I am on Xanax, but only as needed, I don't take it daily. I think I may need to start! It helps me sleep, and makes me more rational, but i don't want to depend on it.

My anxiety is through the roof now and insomnia has kicked in. I can fall asleep but not stay asleep. As my surgery date gets closer, I get more worried and tense. It's like a weight is on my chest. I am getting cramps now (i never had bleeding), so I assume the shot is working its magic to shrink things down there.

I just needed to vent. Today I am depressed. embarrassed at my behavior last night, scared of the rage and the revolt my body will go into post-op. Ugh. I just want to cry, and probably will! I feel like I'm in the Bell Jar

On the crazy train, help!

Hi Brimbles,

I see that your surgery is coming up in April. I can only tell you that I am SO glad I had my surgery. I had no idea how my unhealthy uterus was affecting my entire body, including my bladder! I was having constant bladder infections, but no more!

I bounced back rather quickly, but the help those first 2 weeks is critical. I am hard to keep down, anyway, but I am not typically a fast healer or have an easy go of things.

Warmly,
Linda

On the crazy train, help!

Thank you! I'm getting a little nervous, ok a lot more nervous as the day approaches. I've been trying to maintain a good level of fitness, and thankfully due to CA weather, I can still run outside for the most part!
My uterus was up to my belly button and definitely my bladder is NOT happy! It feels the size of a pea!

Re: On the crazy train, help!

Sounds like an extremely bad reaction to the shot. You may want to call your doctor. This is hard enough to go through without having something like that too! Good luck.

On the crazy train, help!

Brimbles,
I know what you mean about becoming a bit anxious. As my date approached, I was too. That is normal! I tend not to ask a lot of questions about the procedure until afterward... sometimes ignorance is bliss!

But, I am confident that you will do well and you will be SO happy, as will your other organs! It took a bit of time for my other organs to settle in to their new space. Believe me, the healing was much easier than the long and drawn out daily negative affects I was having!

Just make sure you have your help lined up, as well as all of your meds... and keep your eyes on the horizon!

Re: On the crazy train, help!

I get that way and I'm not on the shot. Hang in there and breathe. I mean it too I have to give myself a timeout so I don't say something I'll regret.
