Incision still open

Last week my incision opened in 2 spots each under an inch, because of fluid under my incision. I had TAH on Jan 31st. They put me on antibiotics as the dr thought it was an infection. She thought it would close quickly. Today I went back and saw my regular gyn that did the surgery and he didn't like the looks of my incision or that I still had pain. He contacted the wound care team and they are sending someone out to do home care. I also have to get an u/s because he is concerned that I may have a blood clot in my stomach area and that the flood and pain may be coming from that. I really hoped I would feel better by now. I was feeling old with nightgowns, granny panties, and elastic pants... Now I get the joy of having home health care!!! The house is no looking the finest as I have been laid up since Jan. My hubby is wonderful, but it isn't the way I like it to be. Now is the time I don't want people in my house! I gave hubby a list of things to do. I don't need any more stress, as I feel rotten!

Re: Incision still open

An open incision sounds very unnerving and its a good thing
that a specialist will be looking at it and treating it (who cares what your house looks like. . .)

My TAH was on the same date. I had lots of complications during and after the surgery. One of them was a large hematoma, or blood clot. Mine was initially very large (like grapefruit sized) and is now about half of that. It is just under my vertical incision and slightly to the right. The hematoma and the skin over the area are still painful, especially with anything touching it (even my grannie panties!) But my doctor assures me that it will eventually be absorbed into my body.

Just wanted you to know that a clot, in itself, is not so bad. An infection probably much more serious.
