Pre op appt scheduled

Ooh on the 13 I go in for EKG chest dray and lab work then on the 15 I am scheduled to meet with my dr. I am so nervous and excited at the same time!! My surgery is scheduled for March 23 at 10:15 am.
Is having to get a chest xray and EKG normal? What are they looking for?
For some crazy reason every time I have to get an EKG my anxiety goes nuts!! I have never had any problems, they have all came out normal but I just get awful anxiety. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can stop that?

Re: Pre op appt scheduled

I had blood work and an EKG. I did not have a chest x-ray. These types of screenings are quite normal, and are done based on age and health history.

Regarding the EKG, I think they are checking your heart to make sure it is healthy. Maybe for your chest x-ray they are checking your lungs. The blood work screens for a variety of items.

I know you are nervous and get concerned that they will find something. But they are doing this to protect you during surgery. Think of it as an additional layer of security being done just for you...
