1 month & beyond exhausted- Setback?

I'm about 1 month post-op from a SILS (misunderstood my doc's lingo & thought DvH & SILS were the same procedure).

I felt totally recovered at week 3, which was right on schedule with my doc's prognosis.

I returned to work Monday, but woke yesterday unable to function, too tired to even get off the couch, had a slight fever.

I know there are good & bad days in recovery, but this seems extreme- I'm still too tired to move much at all this morning, but no fever. I haven't felt this tired since my first week post-op.

No obvious sign of infection at navel incision site, but I'm still scared something might be wrong.
(Belly button tissue is moist & looks unhealed, but there is no bleeding or drainage).

Does any of this sound normal?

Re: 1 month & beyond exhausted- Setback?

Maybe it is just a virus and not related to the surgery.
I hope you feel better!!

Re: 1 month & beyond exhausted- Setback?

I hope you are better now too! I had tiredness too for many months. Winter time light deprivation didn't help for me! Hang in there!! I did not know how to start a new thread but I also have an important post-op question please. HELP! It is 11 months since my hysterectomy surgery (everything taken out, uterus, ovaries, tubes). I only take estraice (minimal dosage). Three days ago I suffered a 40 minute pain attack leaving me doubled up on the couch. I was crying it hurt so much/continually. Pains felt in the lower abdomen, inner vaginal area & outside area down there. Has anyone had this experience so many months later? Nurse at surgeon' office didn't seem concerned. She said if it happens again call your Gyno or Family pratitioner doctor. Any advice from anyon? Thanks.

Re: 1 month & beyond exhausted- Setback?

I felt worse at 4 weeks than I did at 2 weeks. After that, things got gradually better. I couldn't have gone back to work at 4 weeks because of the fatigue. However, you should get yourself checked, just to make sure there is nothing else going on. Take care! Rest well.

Check out the hysterectomy checkpoints for week 3/4 found here https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/view_postop34.htm

at one month out you can feel good one day then tired the next day that is normal, I went back to work at week 6 and i was exhausted that first week, could start out the day fine and at the end begging for my bed....it is normal and still part of healing

Re: 1 month & beyond exhausted- Setback?

Almost 5 weeks post op and feel like a slug. Never felt so drained in my life. Energy totally zapped. How much longer? I am starting to get down in the dumps.

Re: 1 month & beyond exhausted- Setback?

Hi jerseygirl54:
Best wishes to you. From my own observation, please give it time. You are so very new into recovery . It has been 11 months since my complete hysterectomy (uterus, ovaries, tubes) (& I'm 53 years old). I wish I had documented my progress in that area so I could share better with you on time frames. Keep up with good nutrition too & exercise . (I try to eat pretty healthy & exercise daily....I ran & completed the NY marathon 7 months after my surgery so believe me when I say the energy does come back! I am a firm believer that it will happen for you too! Keep positive! Take care, JogginLady

Re: 1 month & beyond exhausted- Setback?

Thanks for the encouragement. Think my boxing and weight training days are over though. I had been with a trainer for 6 months prior to surgery in attempt to get healthy. Soon after heard I need hysterectomy. Sort of a slap in the face. I am 57 and petite. Afraid of losing the muscle I acquired. Will talk to dr. in a week and a half for my limitations list. Walking bores me, but love my bike. Sorry I did not document my progress either. Thanks again.
