Re: travel after hyst

I'm sure it would be safe to might just be very uncomfortable!! You should discuss this with your to make sure it is okay. If you are cleared to go, make sure you bring a pillow to put between the seat belt and your tummy. Also, when you are riding in the car, it helps to hold the pillow firmly against your tummy when you hit bumps or are turning.

I hope you get to go and I hope you can make the trip as comfortable as possible.

Re: travel after hyst

I traveled about 150 miles to see a friend about a week after mine and it was hard. I felt little pain but the exhaustion was the hardest part. I assume you are getting a place to stay. If you are then I would go a day early and take it easy the rest of the day. Do the wedding the next day then rest a night before heading home..
Give yourself a lot of down time for resting and healing..

Re: travel after hyst

I think it could be possible for such a trip but I think you should plan the trip very well in advance.

A week after my abdominal hysterectomy I was driven 60 km to hospital to have my clips removed and 60 km home after that. I found that I got quite sore after sitting in the one position for almost 1 hour.

I would suggest that you do the trip over 2 days - stay overnight somewhere in between. Take regular breaks from the car during the trips - have plenty of food and toilet breaks etc. I would agree that having a cushion or pillow under the safety belt and perhaps more behind you etc should help. It is is a very long trip to take so soon after surgery and then you have the actual wedding. You may find yourself getting very tired. It might be wise to get the go ahead from your doctor. Personally I would not have been up to such a trip 1 week after surgery but I did have abdominal surgery wheras you had a DaVinci laparoscopic.

Best wishes.

Re: travel after hyst

I had the daVinci on 2/29 and I have only been on 2 very short car trips so far. The car just isn't comfortable because everything jiggles! Use a pillow and arrive early with plenty of time to rest before the wedding. you WILL be exhausted. I have a wedding to attend in 10 days and I am afraid I will be too tired to stay for much of the reception. I am amazed at how quickly I tire, even just sitting on the couch.
