I have bronchitis now.....will they cancel surgery?

I am 2 weeks from surgery and my friend at worked pretty much forced me to go to urgent care. I'm glad I did but I'm so scared they are going to cancel surgery. Hopefully I will be better in 2 weeks but pre op is next Wednesday. Any advice? They gave me off til Thursday and told me to rest and take my Meds.... I'm a little upset because I'm about to rest and take Meds for 6 weeks LOL

Thanks

Re: I have bronchitis now.....will they cancel surgery?

I had a sinus infection 1 1/2 weeks before surgery and was put on antibiotics and surgery went on as planned. Your doctor will need to make that decision though. Hope you get well soon and your surgery can go on as planned!

Me too! I think I may lose my mind if I have to wait.

Re: I have bronchitis now.....will they cancel surgery?

I just had surgery 2 weeks ago. I recommend regular mucinex ( no decongestant or cough suppressant stuff), look up and do breathing exercises, drink lots and lots of fluids especially tea with honey. Did they give you an inhaler? Im an asthmatic and have bad allergies, which flared up right before my surgery and then right after, these things helped me. Get rid of the gunk build up in your chest/lungs now because it's no fun to be coughing after surgery! Please check with your doc to get the ok before taking the mucinex or any other meds...it was ok for me, but it's better to ask your own doc.
Hope you get better very soon and best wishes on your upcoming surgery!

Re: I have bronchitis now.....will they cancel surgery?

The doc told me to take mucinex, Claritin, zpack and tussionex on top of my inhaler. I am chugging water, oj, and warm broths(I don't really feel like eating but I know I need to eat.). I feel worse today than I did yesterday, but I know it takes a while for antibiotics to get going. Thanks for the replies. I just reallllllllly want to get this surgery done!
