Having cramps!

I just had a total hysterectomy. I am 32 years old. I feel like my recovery is ok except I am having menstrual cramps. Especially when I walk around. Is this normal? Also I am having back pain! Help. I don't want to worry!!

Re: Having cramps!

I had terrible menstrual type cramps in the hospital after surgery, then again over the next two and a half weeks. I've had a sharper pains and twinges here and there, but most of my pain has presented as cramps.

If you were feeling good before and they just came on, you may want to call your doctor. Is your pain medication able to help? If not, then you should call.

Re: Having cramps!

Thanks for the reply. I have had them since surgery, they are nothing new, but I wasn't expecting cramps after a hysterectomy. I am going to call my doctor today just to make sure. Thanks again:-)

Re: Having cramps!

Hi, I am 4 weeks post op wed. I still have some cramps in my abdomen and back. This morning feels like a truck sat on my pubic bone all night...Ug! Seems each day is different and I've tried to keep in mind that it can also be my bowels too due to them also being sore from all the man handling they went through. If your cramps are not relieved by medicines, heating pads, or rest...I would call the Dr just to give myself some piece of mind.

Hugs to you, hope you feel better :-)

Re: Having cramps!

I have them too - they were at their worst the first 2 weeks. My doctor told me that is just everything inside settling in and healing. They do a lot of cauterizing and sewing in there. I am curious to hear what your doctor says too.

Going into week 3 I am feeling better and only get a twinge now and then.

Re: Having cramps!

I have horrible "menstrual" like cramps too. My lower back has been aching also. This would be my menstrual week, so I'm not sure if it is due to that or not. My 4 week post op appointment is with the doctor tomorrow, so I hope to get some answers. I occasionally get that stabbing twinge up my vagina also from time to time. I was hoping to feel better by now. Hugs to you all!

Re: Having cramps!

Uugghhh! I am only on day 6 of recovery! I am feeling better with some things today. I just feel exhausted though. I think I am gonna take a short walk and enjoy the sunshine. I will let you know what my dr. says. Hugs to all and have a good morning:-)
