Ok...it's getting real now.

Surgery is on Friday and you know it's real when your name goes up at the top of this forum in the "best wishes" posts.

Definitely feeling the fear and anxiety now. I'm having a TVH and this will be my first stay in a hospital other than childbirth. Not bad I guess for 40 something but still...

Best wishes to everyone else still waiting. It is sure nice to have such a wonderful place as Hystersisters to make the journey less scary and lonely. Truly those who best understand are those in the same boat.

Re: Ok...it's getting real now.

Are you getting to spend the night after your surgery? Mine was at 7:30am and I was home by 6pm. Would have liked to stay a bit longer but got better rest at home. Good luck!

Re: Ok...it's getting real now.

Know that we are all praying for you and just stay as relaxed as you can. Deep yoga breaths helped me and then reality hit as I was walking down to the pre op room. The staff was great and kept me relaxed. Nurses kept coming in all night long. I had cervical cancer and had everything removed but part of my vagina. I went into surgery at noon, came out at 5 pm and they released me at 2 the following day. I don't think I was ready to go home but my hubby said it would be better to be in his care. Hopefully you have someone to take care of you as well as my hubby did. Good luck to you! All will be okay.

Ok...it's getting real now

Dear Sister.

sending warm, happy thoughts to you.
for these keep us calm in the darkest hours.

I went for my op, March 8th /12.

I can honestly say, waiting was the best part. or was it?
I tried to cancell the morning of.
Felt so out of control.
I apologize, I am not helping at all.
I am 55, first surgery, Lucky said the pre op nurse.

If you need this, it is good to just get it done.
I felt fine aside from the odd show of blood.
I thought I was FERTILE !
and felt so PROUD of myself !

Now I am sweating cold sweat, chilled to the bone.
feeling I must rest, though don't want to.
Still smoking and kicking myself for it.
I had pre cancerous cells and a cyst.
Does THAT warrant a total HYSTERECTOMY?
Pathology had better find more than ONE little area, or I'm going to be VERY upset!

Yeah, I wasn't ready, wasn't prepared, in denial. up to the last minute,
litterally, at the staging area, I was asking for more TIME>
Then everything went fuzzy.
The pain control was very good.
in Hospital.
at home, it's off and on. pain.
SO hard to lay down , and rest.
But I have to, body says STOP IT!!!!!
rest, or you will be in more pain.
I have to go,
I am glad I got on, to write a bit.
You'lll be OK. trust me you will.
BIG, BIG, HUGS !!!!!!!!
to all of my Sisters.!!!!!!!!!

Re: Ok...it's getting real now.

I am trying to quit smoking, too, and find that the more I think about quitting, the more I smoke! Argh! Guess I will make it something I do as I recover Sheesh. Right now I need something to cope...but I have to quit. I know I do and I want to. But I am on edge and it gives me a little boost. I need a boost. Blah. Hope you can find it in yourself to quit I'll be trying and would love to hear that you are, too!
