Re: curious

To MB0107 and Monsterkitty, my most recent responses, thanks for your input. My sister-in-law actually said the same thing, that maybe I should seek a third response. I've been praying on this really hard and hope to come to a conclusion on my own. My pre-op is Tuesday and I'm going to drop off the most recent ultrasound report from the second doc today to the surgeon with a letter about my concerns. It seems if you leave them info ahead they take more time to read it before the appointment, otherwise you get there and its sitting in your chart unread.

I wish my period would come so I could see where my pain factor is off birth control. I do know I cannot tolerate birth control anymore if I don't do this surgery. Hence leaning towards uterus removal only. Yet it seems like so many ladies are so badly in pain or having problems that they don't even think twice about surgery the way I'm so uncertain. As for the third opinion, good idea, but probably would take months to get a referral and all going plus I do not know who to see. I don't know many people here since I'm from the Midwest originally. Like you all said, I will keep reading my hystersisters posts and researching more on this. Thanks for your support ladies.

Re: curious

Monsterkitty10;
I think a friend of mine from Wisconsin's daughter is stationed at Fort Lewis. My father was born in Chicago and many of my relatives live in the Chicago suburbs. We're all big Cub fans in my family! It was nice to hear from someone with familiar territory. Oregon is beautiful but its tough without family nearby.

I hope you keep feeling better everyday. I must say all the ladies who have gone through this surgery are surely some of the bravest souls around! Good luck with recovery.

Re: curious

Just wanted to update anyone who helped me out the last few days with my confusion about surgery. I submitted my concerns to the surgeon and she decided to postpone surgery until I feel more sure. I submitted an ultrasound from a second doctor for her review showing that all my organs are healthy except for the uterus issues and possible endometriosis we may not see until going in.

She told me to monitor my periods a few months, journal them, and if I feel more sure down the line she'll reschedule. But she said she needs to take the ovaries too and cannot just take the uterus since I am over 45. I told her why if they are healthy. She claims they are the problem for pain yet she's only seen me one time. So for now, no surgery and maybe a blessing in disguise because I see no reason to take healthy ovaries when the problem has been fibroids and adenomyosis for three or four years. The second doctor thinks these conditions will subside with menopause, I question that, but for now I will hope she is right. Good luck to all of you and thanks for your input.
