Uterus throwing party upon notice of eviction

I booked my surgery yesterday and instead of trying to convince me that we can still be friends, my uterus has decided to throw a massive party. I woke up to my clothes glued to my legs with blood and cramps so bad I had to crawl to my shower. This only a week after finishing a cycle. I guess it figured out I was getting rid of it and it has decided to trash the place before it leaves. It might as well live it up, because in 19 days I bring the doc to your door and they WILL take you into custody. Do you hear me, Uterus?

P.S. Do not sew dead fish into my curtains because if you make things start to smell, I will call the doc back in to evict your little friends Cervix and Ovaries. Don't think I won't do it.
Sincerely,
The Landlord

Re: Uterus throwing party upon notice of eviction

I can tell you will come out on the other side of this doing just fine!

Mental attitude is so important to our body's healing--and a sense of humor like yours will give your body lots of good hormones.

I named my fibroid and all the docs, nurses, and everyone involved had such a great time with that. It seemed to lighten everyone's mood around me. (The doc even made sure he took a picture of him--Floyd the Fibroid.) Smiling, and making others smile = healing.

I hope you don't have too many more parties to deal with!

OMG, you should have posted a grab your pillow before reading warning! Too funny and you have a great attitude and that will help. Wishing you the best!

Pillow? Is this something I should be preparing for? What is it for? Is it in place of the binder or do you use both?

Re: Uterus throwing party upon notice of eviction

You are having a TVH, so while you will have soreness it is not like a laproscopic or abdominal incison which makes everything hurt when you cough, sneeze, laugh etc. Holding a pillow against your belly helps a lot!! I am a yr post hyster but had an RSO with endo excision on Monday so still a wee bit sore.

Many of the sisters use a small pillow or pillow pet after surgery. It's for holding against your belly when you laugh, sneeze, choke talk whatever in the immediate days after surgery. I got a $4 mini pillow at Walgreens and it was my very fave thing, even in the Castle it felt better just to have between my hands and my belly and to hold against as I stood and walked. Many people use and love the belly binder, I for one did not feel the need. Glad you found us here, this site is truly a lifeline before during and after!!!

Re: Uterus throwing party upon notice of eviction

Is a binder needed with a TVH? I was going to order the cold pack one. I know I won't have the incisions, but I thought it was to reduce swelling from the surgery in general. Do you not get much swelling with a TVH?

The swelling is definitely still there. The amount varies with each person and what you have had done affects it too. I personally didn't go with one, but did use icepacks on my belly as needed, so in hindsight it might have been nice.

That's so funny that you named your fibroid! My doctor, when she saw the MRI results and size of one of my fibroids called it "une belle bete" (French for "a beautiful beast"!). From then on I called it the beast too! Hey if you don't laugh you cry....
