exercise, other chronic health stuff

I'm scheduled for a TAH, BSO on April 9th. I'm also diagnosed with arthritis, degenerative disk disease, and fibromyalgia. It's possible that some of the fibro stuff may get batter when they take everything out but I want to find out about how much some postop hystersisters walked after surgery at different intervals.

With all the other chronic pain stuff I deal with, it's so hard to know when I'm overdoing or under-doing. I think multiple accounts of comparable experience could help me figure out about how much to push myself. Lots of fear about all of it but this is my biggest one. "Listen to your body" just doesn't work for me! All my body usually tells me to do is lie back down :P

Re: ? for post TAH BSO Princesses

Hi I was walking round the hospital from day 1 then once I got home would walk a bit around the house then would go for a 10 minute walk round the block for about the first 2 weeks as that's all I could manage as would get really bad back ache as found it hard standing up straight, now in week 4 I can manage about a mile but people do find they are all different. I found the first 2 weeks really exhausting but not finding it to bad now but still can't really do a lot.

Re: ? for post TAH BSO Princesses

Thank You! Welling up reading this for some reason. I think the unknown is a little more frightening and hearing these experiences helps.

Or I could just blame it on the hormones :P

Re: ? for post TAH BSO Princesses

pingri - i have fibro and arthritis also. I know these and my other heath issues will be challenging - but maybe we can encourage each other along the way. I'm scheduled just under 3 weeks after you...
