Oh the waiting...

Surgery is scheduled for Wednesday and I am now unable to focus at work, so many other items cramping up storage in my brain.

I did get a call from the hospital to talk about if I needed to meet with a nurse for pre-op, they asked about 20 questions and said that was all that was needed. Really??

I was hoping to talk to an anesthesiologist ahead of time and see if having a spinal block or epidural would be an option as I get oh so sick from anesthesia but guess that has to wait until first thing Wednesday.

I don't even know if I will be able to have a private room and that is driving me nuts! I really do not want to have family come and disturb others (I have a loud family).

All these trivial issues are causing me to think I am being ridiculous but what can I do, other than go over every detail in my head and wait. Good luck to all those waiting, I feel for you!

Re: Oh the waiting...

Hi pretty bubbles

I hear you, the waiting is the worst . I had my surgery on the 13th. I to get sick from anesthesia the anesthesiologist placed a patch behind my ear right before they took me in I keep it on for 2days and I did not have a problem at all.

Usually hospitals will give you a private room so you can rest more comfortably. Stay strong and I will be praying for you, see you on the other side.

Re: Oh the waiting...

You can tell the anesthesiologist that it makes you sick and they can add something to the mix when they put you under to help prevent it. I read about it on here, told my anesthesiologist and she automatically said she could take care of it for me and I had no problems with being nauseous. They will come talk to you before you go into surgery so just mention your concerns and they will tell you your options based on your medical history.

Please try to relax. If you are really worried about the room, maybe you can call the hospital and ask what their regulations are. Can you request a private room in advance and, if so, will insurance cover it or do they just put you wherever they have room?

Best of luck. See you on the other side!

Re: Oh the waiting...

To Pretty Bubbles. Others have said it and it IS true, the waiting is the hardest part. Once you get there, those with knowledge, experience and kindness will take over for you and you will be on your way to a better place. I found that keeping busy before I went to the castle was good, and I'm glad now that I did because I am not supposed to do ANY thing now. So, really, get at least one room the way you would like to look at it for at least two weeks ready before you go. And get the pocket binder from HS store, it is the single best thing I bought. Good luck to you, you're in my thoughts.love, k
