Anemic and feel like crap!

Just found out this evening that I am seriously anemic, but not "critical"...yeah. I figured with all of the heavy bleeding every few weeks I would be even though I try to be good about taking iron supplements. My surgery (dvH) is scheduled for 5/14 and my PCP says they will do what they need to do to get me "stable" by surgery time. They want to run some MORE blood tests on Monday to rule out other things before putting me on mega-doses of iron. I think they just want to cover the *****, it makes sense to me that heavy frequent bleeding=anemia. Oh well, more blood loss on Monday. Sorry for the rant, just feeling irritated and fatigued and nervous about what's to come.

Re: Anemic and feel like crap!

Once they get you on iron you will feel a lot better. I was anemic, not dangerously, and about 2 weeks after I went on prescription doses of iron I felt much better.
