Sharp Pain Right of Belly Button

Hi

I'm new here, 11 days post op, and need some help.

Ever since I was first allowed out of bed, post op, I have had a sharp pain to the right of my belly button. It feels like an incision tearing open, but no incision at that location. I have to hold and press on my abdomen just to relieve the pain a little. It is actually worse then the incision itself and causes the single most discomfort. It seems too high to be from the op but did not have it before. It has eased since that first day.

Anyone have any idea what is causing this, any relief remedies and how long it will last?

I had the same problem after my Davinci. I was told that that is where the majority of internal stitching was located. I just made sure that whenever I moved around or stood I kept it supported. It slowly lessened over time. I hope you feel better soon

Re: Sharp Pain Right of Belly Button

I had a da Vinci hysterectomy 2/1/12. I had the same sharp pain on the right side also. If it persists call ur doc, becuz appendix is on that side and a symptom is Sharp pain near the belly button. Rather be safe......wishing u a speedy recovery!

Re: Sharp Pain Right of Belly Button

I'am almost a week post op and have had the same thing. I had it on the 3rd day and went to the doctors, very understanding and explained how that is where all the work is done and its not as simple as you may think. I went home with stronger meds, had a pretty good 2 days, (still felt it but not excruciating) and then went out for 1/2 hour to take a pic of my daughter at her semi and it came back again. Coughing and laughing made it unbearable. I laid in bed for 36 hours (got up and walked a bit to prevent clots etc) and it seems to have subsided somewhat. I also thought it was stitches tearing. If you are not convinced then call the doctor. I'm hoping you turn the corner soon!
