Telling others, good idea?

I've told a few of my friends about my surgery and most of them have been supportive. How do I decide who to tell and what do I say when they try to talk me out of it? I'm only 20, no kids, so most people think I am making a rash decision that I will regret later. It's been 2 years of constant pain, nausea, bleeding, cramps, fatigue, anxiety and my life is gone. I am not the person I used to be because of all the issues. I am so excited about feeling better, but I don't know how to explain that to them. Any ideas???
Thanks girls!

Re: Telling others, good idea?

Have you exhausted other options? If you feel good about your decision, that is all that matters..

Re: Telling others, good idea?

I only told a couple friends and family...definately controlled crowd. You certainly have a lot to sort out in terms of future wishes that may not even be of importance to you at this stage in your life. It might be a good idea to get a 2nd opinion and make a list of how you can prepare for the future. Your friends and family probably only want the best for you and want to help you. Theres a ton of info on this site, so maybe the forums have other young sisters that have gone thru the same things as you, and maybe they have some ideas to discuss w your dr. Good luck! OX
