Pressure in vaginal area and frequant urination

Hello everyone,
I'm 5 days post op and i'm just curious is it normal to have a heavy feeling w/LOTS of trips to the restroom? I have pee'd more post op than I ever did pre op.. I also have a heavy feeling in my vaginal area when I use the restroom. It's not evey time I go but most of the time. I had Laproscopic partial w/removal of left ovary and tube and uterus. I was "glued" shut on the incision site and have a internal stitch.

Could you have a UTI?

Re: Pressure in vaginal area and frequant urination

If it's not a UTI, and if you had your cervix removed, I'm guessing it's normal., even if unpleasant. I had something similar for many weeks (had cervix plus everything else removed), but was told it was part of the healing process and the way they create support for the vaginal cuff during the op.

If you are worried, though, it's always best to get it checked out with your doc. - and if you suspect a UTI, of course.

Re: Pressure in vaginal area and frequant urination

I also, had a LSH on feb 27th, and i was told that it is normal to go to the bath room a lot after surgery. Unless you are having trouble urinating, and it is just going a lot more than normal..try not to worry. I was told that our bodies hang on to the fluids when we have surgery, and as the days pass the body starts to let it go..hence going to the bathroom often. The heaviness I too am experiencing..it is hard to explain. I don't feel anything is wrong, it is just that there is a weighty feeling in the area of the pelvic floor. It could be because we are still swollen inside, and this too will go away. But i understand what you are saying. BUT if you are having problems going to the bathroom call your doctor, they can get you something for a UTI..if that is the case.

If you are feeling good, and you are just curious..I had the same. And i have been lucky because recovery has gone very well, as you i too still have my cervix, and ovaries... We just have to remember that although we are feeling good.. Our cervix is still healing. I keep reminding myself not to over do it!

Hope this helps! As my doctor says, happy healing, be good to yourself!

Re: Pressure in vaginal area and frequant urination

I am 3 week post op and had a SAH on Feb 24. I had all of those system you are experiencing now and when I went for my first post-op visit I had a UTI and yeast infection. So, give your doctor a call just to make you it's just not swelling that is causing that. I am still fighting my infection and I do not wish anyone else to go through this.

Re: Pressure in vaginal area and frequant urination

I believe it's very common to feel that pressure and to urinate frequently. I did. Remember everything is swollen in and up there. Also , when they operate on us they stick a catheter in us just during the procedure time. The catheter can cause irritation and sometimes a slight infection. If it doesn't subside soon, I would call the Doctor. Take care.
